Scientists at NASA are predicting 2013 to be a doozy of a year when it comes to solar storms, and although many are coupling such predictions with Mayan Doomsday theories, a recent article on the Telegraph blog site reports no such catastrophic concerns.  But we in New Jersey are left contemplating: will these strong bursts of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum make the aurora borealis, or the northern lights, visible as far south as us?  A similar event in 1859 made them visible as far south as Rome…
